The Quinlan Brothers crab/shrimp processing plant in Bay de Verde has been the subject of much discussion lately as 20 of the 450 workers there are from Thailand. The company said it was forced to hire the workers after still needing to fill positions for the 2012 processing season despite an aggressive provincial advertising campaign for workers this past winter. A company spokesperson said on June 4 that the Thai workers were adjusting to the work quite well and were fitting in nicely with the other workers there. Photo courtesy of the Compass
