Kelland Hickey and Bobbi Jensen, Level 11 and Grade 9 students at King Academy in Harbour Breton respectively, will have an opportunity to improve their already impressive volleyball skills this coming summer as they participate in the Easter Elite Volleyball Championships.

The event will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia from July 27 to 29 and will include the best young volleyball players from the four Atlantic Provinces. The players will be divided into four groups – 15 and 17 Under girls and 16 and 18 Under boys.

Kelland will be a member of Newfoundland’s 18 and Under boys’ elite team while Bobbi will play with the provincial elite 15 and Under girls’ squad.

Both players were chosen to participate in the 2012 event based on their training programs and their overall skills and great attitude toward the game and their respective coaches.

While the summer will be exciting for both players, it will be extra special for Kelland as his elite team will be taking part in the National Team Volleyball Challenge Cup that is scheduled to be held in Ottawa in mid July.

This tournament is certainly a highlight for the Kelland as he could be selected to be a part of Newfoundland’s volleyball team that will see action in the Canada Games that will be held in Sherbrooke, Quebec in 2013.

Both students said that they are eagerly looking forward to the summer tournaments that will help them become better volleyball players for their school.
