Man sentenced for break-ins, animal cruelty

A 19-year-old from Baie Verte has been sentenced to 12 months in custody in relation to several break, enter and thefts into cabins and a complaint related to the torture and death of a cat last year.

RCMP in Bay d’Espoir responded to numerous complaints in St. Alban’s in September 2011. Justin Nugent from Baie Verte, who was 18 at the time, was subsequently arrested and charged with 10 offences, including break, enter and theft, cruelty to animals, and breaches of a court order.

Nugent appeared in Grand Falls-Windsor provincial court Thursday for sentencing.

Not brave; pure cruelty and heartlessness. The poor little helpless innocent cat. Hope it didn't suffer too long or too much.
