The way I see it -
I am guessing everyone has heard about the two teachers from Manitoba. If not then let me fill you in ... these two teachers were caught, well they didn't really need to be caught as they purposely and carelessly dirty danced (which was described by the students and also seen in the video posted all over online, looked like a lap dance) in front of about 100 students during a rally for grades 9 to 12.
The teachers' routine was very provocative and inappropriate. So, anyway, now these two teachers are looking at the possibility of losing their jobs because of it.
What do I think about it? Well I think it is raunchy, wrong, and pathetic in so many ways and on so many levels.
Teachers are supposed to be people students look up to and also students should be able to look at their teachers as responsible people and follow their example. Students should not have to see their teachers performing dirty and provocative moves in front of them. It is so utterly disgraceful!
Teachers are supposed to be role models! HELLO! NOT bad examples! Seriously now, if this is the kind of teachers who are teaching us, and I say us as a high school student, then how are we expected to act responsible and mature when our very own teachers cannot? Well, I am actually happy and relieved to say that my own teachers at the school in which I attend are nothing like those two teachers in Manitoba.
Teachers are supposed to be leaders but not only are they teachers, they are also adults. Adults tell teens all the time to act like a grown up but how are we supposed to act? Like those two? I think NOT!
Those teachers sent out mixed messages to so many teens that it is ridiculous! They should not only get fired in my opinion, but they should have to do a public apology and not only to their students and staff but also on live television because people from all over have seen the video of them now.
Sure, it is not their fault that a student took a video of them and posted it ... WAIT ... yes it is their fault! If they had not done it in the first place there would not have been anything to post in the so yes it is their own fault. I also think they should do some other sort of punishment too like maybe community service or something.
What is YOUR opinion? Share your opinion because this is indeed a BIG issue.
Think about it, there are teachers out there like those who are teaching YOUR kids! Now, not all teachers are like them, I'm sure 99% are not, but there are still a few out there who would do something like this; obviously.
Adults should have better sense and behave like adults! You would not expect this even from teens. I am a teen and I know that if I saw a couple of teens doing this I would think it was so wrong and pathetic, but if I saw my teachers doing it I would not think it is funny because teachers are supposed to be leaders! Leaders who are a good example.
Well I know my column is not very long this week but I just could not get this out of my head and I could not get over how retarded this issue is.
I know we're all humans and we all make mistakes, but, come on, how can teachers, people who are supposed to be obviously smart make such a DUMB move?
Maybe this is just a reminder to us all that we all need to be careful of the things we do and how we do them... and where we do them.
