The King Academy Drama Group wowed audiences and made history in Harbour Breton last week as the group became the first performers at the Elliot Premises ever.
The group which consists of students Jeremy Drake, Christa Lambert, Christopher Skinner, Samantha Lambert, Brittany Stewart, Joey Baker and Jeremy Power, thrilled audiences with the play, "Glory In The Flower".
Set in the 1950s, the play and is about young people dealing with their past in order to move on to the future. The theme of the play is some people learn from their mistakes while others dont and life goes on no matter what happens.
"I thoroughly enjoyed the play, said Betty Delaney. The music and the setting took me back to the 1950s, and the students were just great."
Angie Tibbo agreed and said she enjoyed the play very much.
"The students are very talented, and it was great to see the performance at our new Elliott Premises."
While some of the members of the drama group will graduate high school this year, the remaining members hope to continue keep the program alive next school year.
"I got involved in the drama group because I enjoy public speaking, and I thought this would be a good way to improve in this area, said grade 10 student Jeremy Drake. I also thought it would be a lot of fun and it has been. We had a great bit of fun putting this together. I'll be involved with the drama group again next school year."
Christa Lambert, a grade 12 student said she got involved in the group because it was an extra-curricular activity that appealed to her.
"I wasn't involved in sports," Ms. Lambert said." I figured this would be a good activity to get involved with after the regular school day and it was. I really enjoyed being a part of the group."
