The Harbour Breton Lions recently passed out two key awards for the 2010-2011 Lions’ year.

Lion of the Year

The Lion of the Year 2010-2011 Award went to Lion Wanda Martine. Although Martin only joined the club in 2010 she accepted the chairs of two key committees in the club.

These two committees – Catering and Max Simms Camp – are very time consuming and require a lot of dedication and plenty of volunteer time.

King Lion Jerome Stoodley said, “Martin accepted these two committee chairs without hesitation and gave 100 per cent to both. For a new member, she accepted the challenge and met both head on with determination and confidence.”

Lion George Lace Memorial Scholarship

The 2011 recipient of this award is Shane Hickey who is the son of Lion David Hickey.

Shane graduated form King Academy in June 2011 and is attending the Marine Institute where he is enrolled in the Nautical Science Program.

King Lion Jerome said, “On behalf of all Lions in our club, I would like to congratulate Shane on winning this award and to wish him the best of luck in all his future endeavours.”
