Carter Cox, a Grade Two student at St. Joseph’s in Harbour Breton, has a new lease on life these days as his school bought him a new Keekaroo High Chair.
Prior to receiving the special chair, Carter had to sit on a beanbag when he was out of his wheelchair to complete his assigned schoolwork with his classmates.
Geraldine Langdon is the vice-principal at St. Joseph’s.
Langdon said that the chair has several key advantages for Carter.
She said, “Carter has a tendency to want to move about as soon as he’s in his wheelchair. He will be able to do his work better with his group now while at his desk, as he can’t move around in this chair. He will also have better access to a laptop and a desk top computer than he did previously.”
Langdon said that Carter is enjoying the Keekaroo Chair, which will help him become a better learner at the school.
A Keekaroo High Chair grows with an individual from six months of age to the adult stage of life. As an individual grows, the Height Right Wooden High Cahir grows with them. Completely adjustable to each child’s needs, the wooden highchair adjusts in height and depth of the seat and footplate. This allows every child the perfect seating position.
Vicki Cox, Carter’s Mom, said, “Our child's progress is not that easily seen on a day to day basis. But when one reflects on the progress he has made through education then we have to have to congratulate all staff and students who make it possible for Carter to lead a normal yet simpler life.
“It's things such as this that help him become a part of everyday normal classroom activity and helps him associate with his classmates. This chair will definitely help him carry out daily activities and for this we sincerely thank you!!”
